Teen and Adult Classes

Winter, Spring, Summer 2025

This Winter, Spring, and Summer, I will be offering Natural Science Illustration classes for teens and adults in my studio, Sierra Nature Prints, Scotts Valley. Classes will explore the wonders of nature through applied art. We will draw plants, insects, Arachnids, mammals, reptiles & amphibians, seashells, bones, feathers, fur, fungi, flowers and occasional fun fantasy topics (dragons. Cryptids, etc.) using a variety of media (watercolor, pen & ink, colored pencil, graphite, acrylic, and scratchboard) enhanced with various techniques (layout, mixing, shading, and blending). Students will learn about the subjects’ natural history, classification, and Latin names; and learn about various artists while being gently guided in the art of critique. Instruction takes place in a round table setting. Students should come with a desire to draw and be able to focus for two hours. Materials (and refreshments) are provided in class.

Classes are limited to seven students.
